The Technical Characteristics of The Oil Filters

Oil filter, also known as oil grid. It is used to remove impurities such as dust, metal particles, carbon deposits and soot particles in the oil to protect the engine.

Oil filters are divided into full-flow and split-flow. The full-flow filter is connected in series between the oil pump and the main oil passage, so it can filter all the lubricating oil entering the main oil passage. The shunt cleaner is connected in parallel with the main oil passage, and only filters part of the lubricating oil sent by the oil pump.

Let's take a look at the technical characteristics of the oil filter:

1. Filter paper: The oil filter has higher requirements on the filter paper than the air filter, mainly because the temperature of the oil varies from 0 to 300 degrees, and the concentration of the oil also changes accordingly under the sudden temperature change. This affects the filter flow of the oil. The filter paper of a high-quality oil filter must be able to filter impurities under severe temperature changes while ensuring sufficient flow.

2. Rubber seal ring: The filter seal ring of high-quality engine oil is synthesized with special rubber, which guarantees 100% no oil leakage.

3. Backflow suppression valve: only available in high-quality oil filters. When the engine is turned off, it prevents the oil filter from drying out; when the engine is restarted, it immediately creates pressure to supply oil to lubricate the engine.

4. Relief valve: Only available in high-quality oil filters. When the outside temperature drops below a certain value or when the oil filter exceeds its normal service life, the relief valve opens under special pressure, allowing unfiltered oil to flow directly into the engine. Even so, the impurities in the oil will enter the engine together, but the damage is much smaller than the damage caused by no oil in the engine. So the overflow valve is the key to protect the engine in an emergency.
